A24’s newest horror thriller Bring Her Back has received its first teaser trailer, providing fans with a preview of what to expect from Talk to Me filmmaking duo’s next directorial feature. The movie will be led by Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins, who’s best known for her acclaimed roles in 2013’s Blue Jasmine and 2017’s The Shape of Water.
The Bring Her Back teaser shows a series of haunting and intense short clips, which effectively set up the tone and vibe of the upcoming horror movie. It also features a glimpse of Hawkins’ unnamed character, who can be seen with bloody hands. The video also seemingly teases the story’s occult aspects, as one of the clips included two characters standing inside a circle. The official synopsis reads, “a brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.” Just like Talk to Me, the movie was also filmed in Australia for 41 days.

Street Fighter Reboot Film Finds New Director After Acclaimed Filmmaking Duo’s Exit
After losings its directors, someone new has taken the helm of the upcoming Street Fighter movie from Legendary.
Bring Her Back is directed by brothers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou, who, prior to becoming filmmakers, were first recognized as Australian YouTubers known as RackaRacka. Written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, the movie also stars Billy Barratt, Stephen Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Jonah Wren Phillips, Olga Miller, Mischa Heywood, Liam Damons, Alina Bellchambers, Sora Wong, and Vicky Liao. At the moment, further details about their characters are still under wraps. It is produced by Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton of Causeway Films, who previously worked with Philippou brothers on their feature-length directorial debut. The creative team also includes cinematographer Aaron McLisky, with composer Cornel Wiczek providing the film’s music.
What’s Next for the Philippou brothers?
Besides preparing for the impending release of Bring Her Back, the Philippou brothers are also currently developing the sequel to Talk to Me, which they started writing during the pre-production process of the first installment. “While writing the first film, you can’t help but write scenes for a second film,” Danny Philippou said in a previous interview. “So there’s so many scenes. The mythology was so thick, and if A24 gave us the opportunity, we wouldn’t be able to resist. I feel like we’d jump at it.”
Details about its plot and characters haven’t been revealed yet, as it’s still unclear if the sequel will also bring back characters from the original.

The 10 Scariest Jumpscares in A24 Horror Movies, Ranked
A24 horror movies are known for subverting the tropes of the genre, but they still use jumpscares when necessary.
According to the 2023 movie’s lead star, Sophie Wilde, she’s still unsure if there’s a way for her character to return in the sequel, but expressed that she’s very willing to return if given the opportunity. “I said to them, I was like, ‘I’m gonna get actual FOMO if I’m not in this film, so can I just come on set and be like a boom operator? I will be an assistant director, I just want to be involved.'”
In the first installment, Wilde played the role of Mia, who, due to her grief, gets suddenly involved in a dangerous game that allows spirits to take over her body.
Bring Her Back arrives in theaters on May 30.
