From the royal box at Wimbledon to becoming Canada’s first daughter: As Mark Carney begins his time as the Prime Minister of Canada, meet his half-British daughter, Cleo Carney
They might well have been interested in the character of their future Prime Minister (once dubbed ‘the George Clooney of central banking’, Carney has spent just two months as a working politician), but as his daughter made her debut as the face of the First Family, many will also have wondered what kind of person Cleo Carney is, too.

Born to Mark Carney and his wife, the British economist and farming scion Diana Fox (the pair met while studying economics at Oxford), Cleo has followed in her parents’ footsteps as a passionate student of the intersections of finance and climate policy. When not studying as a freshman at Havard University (like Carney père, who graduated from the Ivy League college in 1988), Cleo serves as a board member of the Bluedot Institute, a climate-focused non-profit.
Having undergone an internship training programme for the group on Martha’s Vineyard (the Cape Cod enclave beloved by the likes of Princess Diana and the Obamas), Cleo promotes sustainability and environmental awareness by producing articles, interviews, and even recipes. Her cooking credentials bagged her a show on Bluedot’s YouTube channel, where she reinvented classic recipes with a sustainable twist – think vegan chocolate chip cookies and brownies made with Greek yoghurt.
