Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, during his meeting with the head of the United Nations Mission in Libya, Hanna Tetteh, who is visiting Algeria, reaffirmed his country’s readiness to provide all forms of support and assistance to the UN mission in carrying out its duties.
The meeting included an exchange of views on the developments in Libya and prospects for resolving the crisis. Attaf reiterated Algeria’s firm position, which is based on clear principles for resolving the crisis.
He stressed that the Libyan crisis can only be resolved through a comprehensive Libyan-led political process that guarantees no exclusion or marginalization and aims to strengthen national unity. He also reaffirmed that free and fair elections are the best path to achieving stability in the country.
Attaf underscored the need to unify Libyan institutions and eliminate divisions as a priority in any political solution. He emphasized that ending foreign interference in all its forms is the key to enabling Libyans to determine their own future.
