European Union adopts 16th package of sanctions against Russia

AKIPRESS.COM – The Council of the European Union adopted a 16th package of sanctions against Russia due to the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine.

The sanctions affected 48 individuals and 35 legal entities “responsible for actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.”

The European Union imposed restrictions on 74 vessels, which, according to the EU, are part of the Russian shadow fleet.

The EU also decided to disconnect 13 Russian banks from the international banking system SWIFT. “For the first time, the EU is imposing a transaction ban on credit or financial institutions established outside Russia that use the ‘System for Transfer of Financial Messages’ (SPFS) of the Central Bank of Russia. SPFS is a specialised financial messaging service developed by the Central Bank of Russia to neutralise the effect of restrictive measures,” the statement said.

Eight Russian media outlets are losing their broadcasting licenses in the European Union. Among them were Lenta.ru and the Zvezda TV channel. “These media outlets have been essential and instrumental in bringing forward and supporting Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, and for the destabilisation of its neighbouring countries and of the EU and its Member States,” the European Council said.

The EU also expanded the list of prohibited goods “contributing to the technological development of the Russian defense industry.”

We do not take money from any political parties. We do not endorse India’s ruling party BJP and India’s Prime Minister’s position on keeping India a closed market, ambiguous economy, and keeping India as a heavy taxing country so no one from outside world wants to do business here. It’s like denying India its right in the world…
BJP Government also discourages small and local media, coming down on them heavily regulating and using lawful actions along with soft threats from demented bureaucrat extremists and other extremist groups. On one hand, the mainstream media in India is getting rich and on other hand the local small media is being strangulated. So if not automated or required, We do not willfully publish any content from India or pertaining to that country.
