ArmInfo. The Eurasian Economic Union has successfully coped with a number of factors and their negative consequences. As reported by the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission, this was stated in the format of a video address to the participants of the International discussion dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the EAEU.
The main topics of discussion for the participants were the successes achieved and the challenges faced by the Union. “A number of factors and their negative consequences became external challenges for the EAEU, which the association successfully coped with. This is evidenced by the growth of GDP over the specified period by about 50% – from 1.6 trillion to 2.4 trillion US dollars. At the same time, mutual trade doubled and amounted to about $ 90 billion, and its share in the total volume of foreign trade of the EAEU increased to 18.2%,” Arzybek Kozhoshev noted.
The Minister reported on more comfortable conditions for EAEU citizens in the field of education, medical care, appointments and payments of pensions. The benefits of the business community, for which the Union law provides for the free movement of goods and equal access to public procurement, were outlined.
The EEC Minister also emphasized that issues of common oil, gas and electricity markets are currently being promoted, which will ensure the availability of energy resources and the development of EAEU countries. The tasks of diversifying supplies and building up the potential of new transport corridors, such as the North-South transport corridor and cooperation with China on the One Belt, One Road project, are being addressed.
