Celebrated actor Robert Pattinson is already off to a great start in 2025 after starring in Bong Joon-ho’s dark sci-fi comedy Mickey 17. Pattinson has come a long way from his Harry Potter and Twilight days, emerging as one of the most versatile modern actors. Pattinson’s unique voice and performance as Mickey Barnes in Mickey 17 makes for one of the more eccentric characters of his acting career, which is a great sign for the future of his upcoming projects. Although Mickey 17 is quite different from its source material, Pattinson’s spin on the protagonist is one of the film’s best qualities.
Pattinson has been a consistent face – and voice – of prestige dramas since starring in the 2014 dystopian sci-fi drama The Rover alongside Guy Pearce. Although he has not been nominated for any Academy Awards, his recent trajectory points him towards some Oscar buzz in the near future, perhaps as soon as late 2025. Before collaborating with Oscar-winner Bong Joon-ho, Pattinson had already worked with many notable directors, including Christopher Nolan (Tenet), Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse), Hayao Miyazaki (The Boy and the Heron), and the Safide Brothers (Good Time). His next projects look to continue his streak of critical acclaim.
Robert Pattinson’s Next Movie After Mickey 17 Is Die, My Love With Jennifer Lawrence
Pattinson Will Play The Husband Of Lawrence’s Protagonist Struggling With Psychosis
Pattinson will follow Mickey 17 with the psychological horror Die, My Love, which pairs him for the first time ever with co-star Jennifer Lawrence. Based on the 2017 novel by Ariana Harwicz of the same name, Die, My Love is directed by Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin, You Were Never Really Here). Known for her gritty and visceral filmmaking style, Ramsay should add similar elements to Die, My Love, which, even from its title alone, suggests instability and eeriness. Die, My Love will also feature performances by Nick Nolte, Sissy Spacek, and LaKeith Stanfield.
Full of conflict and contradictions, Lawrence’s protagonist has several existential crises about the less romanticized aspects of motherhood, marriage, and love.
Pattinson plays Jackson in Die, My Love, the husband of Lawrence’s female protagonist, who is on the verge of a mental breakdown. While the book takes place in the French countryside, the film adaptation will be set in a rural area of Montana, where Lawrence’s character is the mother of Jackson’s child. If the film is anything like the book, Lawrence’s protagonist will be battling internal demons as she grapples with feelings of isolation mixed with a larger desire to belong. Full of conflict and contradictions, Lawrence’s protagonist has several existential crises about the less romanticized aspects of motherhood, marriage, and love.
Robert Pattinson May Get A Third Movie In 2025 Too
Pattinson Will Star In The Drama Alongside Zendaya

Pattinson is also set to star in the upcoming romance film The Drama alongside Zendaya. Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli of Dream Scenario acclaim, The Drama was recently filmed in Boston in late 2024 and could be gearing up for a late 2025 release, right in time for Oscar season. Little is known about the plot of The Drama but if it does end up being released in 2025, it could cap what may turn out to be the most stacked year in Pattinson’s acting career thus far. This would be partly aided by the delay in Mickey 17’s theatrical release, which was originally slated for Fall 2024.
As if that weren’t enough, Pattinson still has two colossal blockbusters in the coming years, with Nolan’s The Odyssey (2026) and The Batman Part II (2027). With Pattinson solidifying himself as one of the biggest Hollywood superstars with an impressively wide range, he should be in line for some Oscars consideration at some point. While that likely won’t happen with Mickey 17, there is certainly potential with either Die, My Love or The Drama, particularly the latter if it is able to catch the late 2025 theatrical release. Regardless, it appears that Pattinson will maintain his well-deserved prominence and acclaim throughout the 2020s.
Die, My Love & The Drama Could Be Oscar Contenders & Even Get Pattinson A Nomination

There is certainly some ambiguity around both of Pattinson’s most immediate upcoming films but each has the potential for greatness, even through the eyes of the Academy. It could even be argued that Pattinson has already been unfairly overlooked for awards consideration, particularly for his performances in The Lighthouse and Good Time, both of which he received nominations for Best Male Lead at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Pattinson has also won numerous accolades for his iconic Edward Cullen role, such as MTV and People’s Choice awards, but he looks to raise the bar with his exciting slate of 2025 movies.
