Fox News reporter confronts Trump press sec’y over gaping hole in White House ‘dress code’

While conducting her daily press briefing on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt fielded an unusually combative question from Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.

The Daily Beast reported that when Leavitt called on Doocy, her smile briefly disappeared after hearing his full question. The network’s senior White House correspondent began his question by pointing out that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy didn’t wear a suit during his meeting last week with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. He then observed: “But Elon Musk never wears a suit.”

“He did last night!” Leavitt countered.

“So what is the dress code?” Doocy pushed back.

Leavitt notably didn’t give a direct answer to Doocy’s question, and only mentioned that Trump appreciated that the South African centibillionaire wore a suit and tie to his joint address to Congress on Tuesday night. She added that Musk “looked great.”

As Doocy observed, Musk showed up to the first full meeting of the Trump Cabinet by wearing a t-shirt that read “tech support” while wearing his go-to black Make America Great Again hat. Musk also wore a t-shirt to his impromptu press conference in the Oval Office while carrying his four year-old son X Æ A-Xii on his head.

During Zelenskyy’s heated conversation with Trump and Vice President JD Vance, one reporter with Real America’s Voice — who is also the boyfriend of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — asked the Ukrainian leader if he owned a suit. Zelenskyy responded that he would wear a “costume” once the war was over.
