Germany does not have an ambassador in Georgia today, they have a representative in the radical opposition, nothing else can be called the German ambassador
There is [in Germany] an outgoing Minister of Education – in fact, Germany does not have an ambassador in Georgia today. They have a representative in the radical opposition, nothing else can be called the German ambassador, – this is how Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze responded to a question asked about the information spread by German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer, according to which, the German Ministry of Education “froze” the development of cooperation in the scientific field with Georgia.
In addition, Irakli Kobakhidze expressed hope that in the future there will be maximum close cooperation with Germany.
“There is now an outgoing Minister of Education. We hope that, despite the background that has been created, we will have maximum close cooperation with Germany in the future. You know how specific bureaucrats, including the current ambassador, spoil things. In fact, Germany does not have an ambassador in Georgia today. They have a representative in the radical opposition, nothing else can be called the German ambassador. This situation must change. We are maximally interested in restoring close relations with Germany. As soon as the situation changes, including personnel decisions are made in a different way, we think we will have progress in relations,” Kobakhidze noted.
For information, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has suspended the development of German-Georgian scientific cooperation.
