Jimmy Kimmel took a swipe at Donald Trump on Tuesday over the president’s love for “Cats” after he gushed over the hit musical in remarks at the Kennedy Center.
“Of course he loves cats, it’s the one musical where the pussies grab you,” quipped the late-night host in a nod to the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape comments.
Trump — as the newly-installed, self-appointed chairman of the Kennedy Center ― met with the center’s board of trustees on Monday after firing board members appointed by former President Joe Biden, an overhaul that sparked resignations and led “Hamilton” to cancel an eight-week run in 2026.
The president, in a meeting detailed by The New York Times, claimed he attended the Broadway premiere of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical alongside “somebody I should not have been there with” and — after some initial discomfort — he got into the show.
“I walked in, I saw all these bodies, and then I noticed those bodies were gorgeous,” said Trump of the women and men on stage, adding that he particularly didn’t find the latter performers’ “bodies as attractive.”
Kimmel worked off the Times report with his Trump impersonation, “Mr. Mistoffelees, we like, Mr. Mistoffelees. Skimbleshanks, that was the sexiest. Skimble was so hot. The railway cat!”
Trump appears to be obsessed with Webber’s musicals as he’s featured the composer’s songs on the campaign trail and once called “Evita” his favorite Broadway show.
Webber’s “Memory” from “Cats” has also reportedly worked wonders on Trump as a White House official known as the “Music Man” would play the show tune to help pull the president from the “brink of rage, ex-White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham wrote in a 2021 book.
Webber wasn’t much of a fan of Trump playing “Memory” at his rallies, however, as the composer — urged by original “Cats” star Betty Buckley — sent a cease-and-desist letter to the president’s 2020 campaign.
