In a thrilling senior day affair, the Montana Tech women’s basketball team concluded its regular season with a heartbreaking loss to No. 25 Providence, 67-59.
The game saw six lead changes and four ties before the Argonauts took the lead for good in the fourth quarter.
Keanna Salave’a led the way for the Argos with 16 points, five blocks and seven rebounds. She exited the game early in the final frame with a lower body injury and did not return.
Santa Clara transfer Ashlee Maldonado was sensational for Providence in the fourth quarter, and ended the game with 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Monique Carter poured in 10 points as well.
For Montana Tech, Hadley Humphries led the scoring with 14 points, and added five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Senior Aubrie Rademacher scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds, and blocked two shots.
Providence finishes its regular season 20-7 overall and 10-5 in the Frontier. They will have a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed and will open their postseason next Monday with a semifinal contest.
Montana Tech falls to 18-10 overall and 9-6 in the Frontier. They will be the No. 4 seed in the Frontier Tournament and will face No. 5 seed MSU-Northern in the first round next Sunday.
All Frontier Conference Tournament games will take place in Great Falls at the Four Seasons Arena.
