Following the removal of North Fly students from their external accommodations at Port Moresby Technical College (POM Tech), ongoing efforts have been made to find a solution, and assistance has been provided to the affected students.
Last night, Sunday, March 16th, at 9:30 PM, the North Fly District Development Authority (NFDDA) successfully moved in the first 30 students who were displaced the previous week.
Mr. Wayne Dimop and students.
The NFDDA acted swiftly, and the students are now settled in their new living arrangements.
An additional 17-day students are expected to be accommodated by today, and arrangements are being made for the remaining students who have not yet registered to be considered today.
Previously, 33 students were listed as boarding students following proper registration process and accommodation arrangements, but confusion arose when some students shared their housing, leading to their eviction.
After discussions with the school administration, the external accommodation provider, and the NFDDA last week, these students regained their boarding status.
Student representative Mike Mark expressed his gratitude on behalf of the students to Local MP James Donald and the NFDDA for their prompt support.
Meanwhile, the NFDDA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the district’s future leaders and human resources.
