Funding for repairs to the ST. Mary Siphon are moving forward.
Senator Steve Daines’ office announced a partnership with the White House and the Department of the Interior made the funding possible.
In June of 2024, Northern Montana experienced a heavy blow caused by the siphon failure.
Officials say the repairs are expected to cost almost $79 million.
The Bureau of Reclamation is currently loaning over $37 million to help update the aging infrastructure.
In our previous reporting – we were told the siphon should be repaired by September.

Senator Daines successfully worked with the White House and the Department of the Interior (DOI) to move forward with critical funds to help repair the St Mary siphons.
“The St. Mary siphon failures this past summer were catastrophic. Farmers, ranchers and Montanans across the Hi-Line depend on these siphons for a reliable water supply and I’m glad the President and Secretary Burgum share my goal of fully repairing the siphons as soon as possible,” said Daines.
