Venky Kudumula shares how David Warner’s Telugu debut was filmed in secret |

Former Australian cricketer David Warner is a huge admirer of Telugu film and is all set to make his acting debut with a cameo in the upcoming action-comedy ‘Robinhood.’. Directed by Venky Kudumula, the film stars Nithiin and Sreeleela in lead roles.
Over the years, David Warner has won hearts with his playful Instagram reels where he dances to popular Telugu songs like ‘Srivalli’ from ‘Pushpa’ and mimics iconic dialogues from blockbusters.
While speaking with Hindustan Times, director Venky Kudumula shared that while he wrote the cameo, he always wanted it to be played by someone special. He said, “From the point I wrote this cameo, I knew I wanted someone special. It is a very important role, and when I shared with my actors and producer that David is on my mind, they were very excited, and we went ahead with it.”He further shared that Warner reportedly loved the concept presented to him. The team flew to Australia to shoot his scenes in September 2024, ensuring the news remained under wraps until recently.
When he was further asked about what type of cameo, he said, “I can’t give away everything because it is a very small cameo, but I can assure you that it is very special for sure.”

‘Robinhood’ is inspired by the legendary tale of the thief who steals from the rich to give to the poor. Nithiin plays a fearless and skilled thief involved in high-profile heists. The film is an action, comedy, and adventure. Sreeleela stars as the female lead, while veteran actors Rajendra Prasad and Vennela Kishore play key supporting roles.
The film is set for a grand theatrical release on March 28, 2025. The music is composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
