An international investment conference is scheduled to be held in Zambia from 16-18 July 2025. Entitled ‘Invest Zambia International Conference’, it will be organised by the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), and held in the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in northeastern Lusaka.
Director-General of the ZDA, Albert Halwampa, said that the conference is intended to maximise Zambia’s investment opportunities, and ensure it is an attractive destination for international investors. Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News, Mr Halwampa said, “we’re making sure that we bring these investors in sectors such as mining, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, tourism, and infrastructure, so at the end of the day these objectives create more employment for the Zambian people and also bring more value to increase our GDP”.
The diverse range of industries on show at the conference reflects the government’s comprehensive approach to ensuring economic growth. It is an opportunity to showcase what Zambia is already good at, such as mining, and also to branch out and develop bourgeoning industries. Hosting a conference of this sort will, it is hoped, afford Zambia international prestige, and help diversify its economy.
Foreign investment is necessary not just for infrastructural purposes, and also creates employment opportunities. This conference is a unique opportunity for Zambia to pursue both of these goals. If it is a success, Mr Halwampa has signalled his intent for this to be an annual event, bringing international investors to Zambia to network and share ideas on a yearly basis. Zambian workers, consumers and business leaders will reap the benefits.
